A couple of sample photos that I took. We were sitting in the left field bleachers, about 380 feet from home plate. My camera has 12x optical zoom.

I know that you all know this already, but new, instrumental Nine Inch Nails album released today. Of course I ordered the limited edition version. Looking forward to receiving the DVD with the source files on it, as that seems interesting. You can of course download the album for $5, or order a physical copy for $10 and get the privilege of downloading a copy while you wait for it to ship to you. There is also a deluxe edition for $75 that also includes the previously mentioned DVD, as well as a blu-ray version of the album in extremely high quality. And for $300, you get the double album, the album across four LPs, the DVD, the blu-ray, a hardcover art book, and a hardcover photo book. And this edition is signed and numbered by Trent. Hopefully tomorrow the site will be fixed so that I can download the full album so that I can be totally impressed by it. The first 9 tracks that Trent released for free are pretty good, cannot wait to hear the other tracks. |

CT scan came back normal. No cancer, no obstructions, no blockages, etc. Got a CD that has the images taken by the scan. Maybe I will post a really naked picture of myself later. As in, no clothes or skin. Yeah that would be hot. |

| I would rather be at work. |
[Feb. 26th, 2008|08:03 pm] |
I've been having some trouble breathing and some chest pains. Went to the doctor about this last Tuesday and got put on a breathing treatment. He told me to come back in a week. Went back today and since I haven't had any improvement, he is sending in to do a couple CT scans on my chest. Supposedly they'll have the results on Thursday morning. I'm not going to lie and say that I am not nervous. Nervous about the results that is. The actual process of getting the scan is of course no problem.
Thanks respiratory system, what did I ever do to you? I've been super nice to you, what with the never smoking, not working in a coal mine, etc. |

| new glasses? oh nevermind. |
[Feb. 21st, 2008|08:57 pm] |
I have worn glasses since third grade. Last time that I went to the eye doctor was when I was about to graduate high school, so nearly 9 years ago. I have been wanting new frames for a while, so I figured that now would be a great time to refresh my prescription and go ahead and get the new frames.
I go sit through the preliminary exams like "hey what is the smallest line you can read" and "which set of dots is the sharpest". Then the lady is like "let me put these drops in your eyes to numb them." Ok, fair enough. Why? "Oh, I am going to test your eyeball pressure by pushing on it with this utensil." What. Allow me to reiterate. What. Ok, whatever, I will let you try. Yeah, it didn't work. The first time that I saw this thing touch my eye and press against it, I nearly lost it. I let her try a few more times, but quite frankly, it was freaking me out and we had to quit with that. I simply could not refrain from blinking, pulling away, and/or pushing her hand away. I tried my best to cooperate, to "mind over matter" it, but since I couldn't close my eyes and visualize a happy place or whatever, because I could see this thing coming at my eye, it simply was not going to happen. We moved on.
Next I saw the actual doctor. He was like "take off your glasses and read the smallest line of text you can see." Which I do. "Ok, now put your glasses back on and read the smallest line of text that you can" Ok, uh, pretty much the same line. The line below it is still too little. "Ok, well, that is the 20/20 vision line and since you're far sighted and young, you can handle that. Let's dilate your eyes and see what's what."
Once my eyes are fully dilated, I get to go back and do all the preliminary tests again, minus the poking me in the eye part of course. Go back to see the doctor, at which point he looks at my eyes with his eye doctor microscopes.
After he completes his exam, he gives me the results. "Well, basically, you don't need glasses." He went on to imply that the doctor I went to when I was 18 did not do a great job with his diagnosis. Considering that I have worn glasses since third grade, I am sure that I looked at him like he had an ear on his forehead. "In 15 years, you will definitely need glasses, but right now, unless you are absolutely attached to them and they are part of who you are as a person, you don't need them. You should try not using them. It may take a week or so to get adjusted, but then it should be great. It'll save a little money too. And hey, enjoy you non-glasses time while you still have some left. Obviously don't start today since your eyes are dialated and you can't see anything, but tomorrow." I was pretty much like "sounds like a plan".
Long story short: been wearing glasses for like 18 years or so. Probably could have ditched them when I was 12. Gonna try this and see how it works. |
